ComicsPlus Now Available

Read All the Comics! ComicsPlus has joined the library's robust section of digital reading content for use by RIPL cardholders.

Comics Plus, powered by LibraryPass, is a digital platform offering thousands of age-leveled digital comics, graphic novels and manga to readers through subscribing libraries. Titles are always available, so there’s never a wait to read. There are no holds, wait lists, or monthly borrowing limits, and new titles are added to Comics Plus every week. Titles can be downloaded for reading on multiple devices (smartphone, tablet, web browser.) Users can also sort content by available languages.

The Rock Island Public Library’s ComicsPlus subscription is arranged among three age-separated collections: Children’s content for grades K-6, Teen content for levels 7 to 12, and a General content level for adults ages 18 and up.  The collection includes a diverse selection of titles for readers of all ages from a variety of popular publishers, including Andrews McMeel, BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse, Fantagraphics, Image Comics, Kodansha, Oni Press, Papercutz, Tokyopop, UDON Entertainment, Yen Press, and dozens more. (Marvel and DC are already available through the library’s hoopla digital collection.)

According to librarians and ComicsPlus, comics and their longer cousins, graphic novels, are a proven way to engage readers of all abilities. Both develop reading confidence, comprehension, and build excitement about reading for fun and recreation. The Rock Island Library also offers monthly graphic novel book discussions for children and teens. For details, visit the library calendar.

ComicsPlus and other library digital services are free to use with a Rock Island Public Library card. To access any of the three ComicsPlus collections, log into the relevant age group with your Rock Island Library card.
