Christmas Holiday Closings

All Rock Island Library locations, including Library2Go bookmobile routes, are closed for the Christmas holiday on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Libraries are open normal hours  Monday and Thursday of Christmas week, but there will be no Goodwill computer assistance program on Dec. 26.

The Rock Island Line used to ‘haul the freight,’ quite literally, making a significant contribution to America’s ‘horn of plenty.’ Today you can look back at how it was all done and how it made life better for the members of the average American family.

There are two videos today for a 40 minute program

The first takes the freight through Iowa on the Montezuma branch. The second shows all the ways the railway made possible the good things of life contributing to our American prosperity.
