Christmas Holiday Closings

All Rock Island Library locations, including Library2Go bookmobile routes, are closed for the Christmas holiday on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Libraries are open normal hours  Monday and Thursday of Christmas week, but there will be no Goodwill computer assistance program on Dec. 26. 

Stay in touch over the holiday with our digital services and PrairieCat app. Our website "online branch" is always open!

On Saturday, October 14, join us for a Solar Eclipse viewing party in the lawn offf the parking lot at our Watts-Midtown Branch. This will be a partial eclipse with the sun blocked by about 60 percent. If it's too rainy/cloudy to view outside, we'll move activities inside and watch the livestream NASA coverage on our big screen.

We'll have certified solar eclipse glasses and viewers (2 per family) available for our event guests. Take turns using them to safely view the eclipse. Yard games, craft, STEAM activiites while you wait. The full eclipse takes a long time, so bring a lawn chair or blanket! Our branch will be open during this event. 

Solar viewers/glasses distributed on the day of the eclipse only. No distribution beforehand. Limited supply available at Downtown & Southwest on October 14.
