As you work on your genealogy project, sooner or later you will find a relative that has served in our country’s military. That’s when you will want to turn to the library’s offering of Fold3. Fold3 Library Edition provides convenient access to US military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served, as well as records of Civil War Widows’ Pensions, United States Colored Troops, Native Americans, FBI case files, and Holocaust archives. The name comes from a traditional flag folding ceremony in which the third fold is made in honor and remembrance of veterans. Working from a Rock Island library computer anyone can access this resource completely free of charge to the patrons and general public.

In this evening’s video presentation, noted genealogist, James Tanner, will guide you through Fold3, showing you how to access and best use those military records.
