Love food but hate waste? Then you’ve come to the right place! Presented by the staff at the University of Illinois Extension Office, Kristin Bogdonas, nutrition and wellness educator and Martha Smith, horticulture educator are offering programs in April that will give you strategies to reduce your food waste at home. Food waste is the most common material found in U.S. landfills but it doesn’t have to be! There are many techniques related to planning, preparation and storage that can help reduce food waste at home.

No-waste Kitchens and Composting Methods, is scheduled for Wed. April 7 at 6 pm. You can attend either in-person or via ZOOM.

In this FREE workshop, Kristin will share food planning, preparation and storage techniques to help you reduce food waste at home as well as creative uses for food scraps. Martha will talk about backyard/home composting methods to utilize compostable food waste, bypassing the landfill and providing you with a rich organic substance to add to gardens and landscapes.

The in-person portions will take place at Illinois Extension in Milan, Ill and be limited to 10 people, socially distanced, masked required.
