Thanksgiving Holiday Closings

All Rock Island Library buildings will close at 6pm Wednesday, Nov. 27, and remain closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 & 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Library2Go routes are also cancelled. 

Stay in touch with our digital services and PrairieCat app! All locations reopen on Saturday, Nov. 20 with normal 10am to 2 pm hours.

Event Details

Jason Reynolds, award-winning author of books for young adult and middle grade audiences, will be speaking to Rock Island/Milan School District students and interested members of the public at Rock Island High School Auditorium. Public seating for this session will be on the main floor of the auditorium. Community members need to register for either the morning or afternoon presentation

Guests should enter through the auditorium doors located at the northwest corner of the building. Please plan to park on the street or in the neighborhood on the auditorium side. Car-pooling is recommended. 

Presented in partnership with Davenport Public Library, where Reynolds is speaking on March 28. The American Booksellers Association’s 2017 and 2018 spokesperson for Indies First, Jason Reynolds' many books include When I Was the Greatest, Boy in the Black Suit, All American Boys (cowritten with Brendan Kiely), As Brave as You, For Every One, the Track series (Ghost, Patina, Sunny, and Lu), and Long Way Down, which received both a Newbery Honor and a Printz Honor.
