New Year's Holiday Closings

All Rock Island Library locations, including Library2Go bookmobile routes, are closed Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 for the New Year's holidays. Libraries are open normal hours Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 of New Year's week. 

Stay in touch over the holidays with our digital services and PrairieCat app. Our website "online branch" is always open! We wish you a very Happy New Year, and our thanks for using library services in 2024!

Event Details

Times have been tough for many in our community. Be a part of positive change and donate to our 3nd annual Community Comforts Drive. This year we are collecting for Heart of Hope Ministries and the Rock Resource Room at Rock Island High School. Both organizations help community members obtain the items they need to lead a healthy lifestyle. Drop off boxes will be located at the Downtown Library and the Southwest Library from Nov. 1 through Dec. . Library hours are 9 am to 6 pm Monday-Friday, and 9 am to noon on Saturdays. (Please note that Rock Island Libraries are closed Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.) 

We are looking for:

  • Personal Care Items
  • Soaps (Body wash, bar soap, dish soap, Laundry Soap)
  • Paper Products (Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, etc.)
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrushes and Toothpaste
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
