Get a Rock Island Public Library Card

If you live in Rock Island, Milan, or within the Milan-Blackhawk Area Public Library District, you qualify!collage of library card options Cards are free.  Apply at any Rock Island Public Library. Card types include: 
  • My First Library Card for children six and under
    • Built-in limits to help parents control use, and no fines for late items. 
    • Check out up to 10 children's items at Rock Island Library locations only
    • Internet use and holds not available.
    • Lost or damaged items are charged to parent. 
  • Full access library card for ages six and up with full borrowing privileges
    • Library services and materials
    • Digital services and online research tools
    • Library Computer time 
    • Collect MyLibraryRewards for items you check out in person!
  • Rock Island Library eCard for ages 18 and up, electronic materials only
    • Access to databases, eBooks, digital content, & online research material
    • For residents who only want access to electronic resources that can be used from home
    • May be upgraded to a physical card for full privileges

Cards are also available for special situations, such as students enrolled at Augustana College, and other temporary residents.

If you ever lose your card, make sure you let us know immediately. To contact us, call the Circulation staff at 309-732-READ. 

What Do I Need to Apply? 

  • Bring a photo ID with your current address.  
  • If your photo ID does not have a current address, bring a second form of ID with your current address.
  • A parent or designated guardian provides ID for children age 17 and under.
